"Id rather be a comma than a full stop"

Music has the magical power to impact us throughout our lives and take us on new journeys and paths which is why I have always been so drawn towards it as an art form, as a lyricist and listener. Lyrics specifically have played a part in the shaping of who I am and then morals I hold, guiding me through moments in my life where words without melodies were not enough.
“I’d rather be a comma than a full stop”. Taken from Coldplay’, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ Is a line that made my mind tick and think a little deeper.
So what does it mean to me? As always with art, each persons connotation will contrast however to me the song is about being jubilant and overcoming melancholy, fear, trials and tribulations; that's why he says "So you can hurt me bad, but still I'll raise the flag". Consequently, the way I interpret ‘I’d rather be a comma than a full stop’ suggests that by being a comma, which is a type of punctuation used in text to carry a sentence on, you are carrying on with your life and choosing not to give up. Whereas if someone was to describe themselves as a full stop, the punctuation used to end a sentence, it would suggest they are choosing to end (in this case) what they started.

The reason I find it such an incredible line is because it’s like your life within a sentence; you can choose whether you want it to continue, with a comma, or end, with a full stop.

Positivity shines throughout this song making it an all-time favourite with colour not only bouncing thought the video but in the music and lyrics also. I dare you to try and listen to this song and not feel positive.

Some other favourites of mine are:
1.       “An ach in your soul its everybody`s goal to get what they can’t have” By The Arctic Monkeys
2.       “And on my deathbed all I see is you the life may leave my lungs but my heart will stay with you” By Bring Me The Horizon
3.       “Maybe it’s not my weekend but it’s gunna be my year” By All Time Low
4.       "Dancing all alone to the sound of an enemy's song" By Paramore
5.       "Sometimes I ignore you so I feel in control, 'coz really I adore you and I can't leave you alone." By Mariana And The Diamonds
6.       "'Cause I feel like I'm the worst, so I always act like I'm the best" By Mariana And The Diamonds
7.       "TV taught me how to feel Now real life has no appeal" By Mariana And The Diamonds
(I could list almost every line from a marina song because she’s an incredible lyricist)
      8.       “Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see” By The Beatles
(Well this couldn’t be a complete list of my all-time favourite lyrics without including The Beatles!)
9.       See, the sea wants to take me the knife wants to slit me do you think you can help me? By the smiths
10.   And every single lyric Ed Sheeran has ever written because again I could forever list my favourite lines from Ed; he is truly one of the world’s most remarkable lyricists.
There are so many marvellous lyric quotes out there and so many more that inspire and really get me thinking. Are you a comma? Or would you compare your attitude against a full stop? Maybe you`re an explanation mark! I find the punctuation people use can really describe a person’s approach to life. Which songs inspire you the most and makes you feel motivated and optimistic? I’d be really interested to find out!

Mental Health series: 2 | Signing up for online therapy

So, you have recognised you may be struggling with a problem that can't be faced alone but like many people, have too much self pride to go to your local GP and reach out for help. So I guess that means you`ll have to face it alone, right? Not at all! First of all, the fact you recognise there is an issue is the first step in making progress to getting better. If you ARE the type of person who has too much self pride to ask a stranger for help but also realise that you are facing challenges your family may not understand and aren't able to give you the correct support in, then I suggest looking into signing up for online therapy. Signing up for therapy with BetterHelp is a quick and easy process and whilst you may decide you are ready to talk to a therapist, the advice on offer will give you some guidance and support. Whilst going through therapy myself, I was quick to realise that my improvements weren't anything to do with the fact I had a councillor and that they were ...

I AM NOT STANDING UP FOR MY RIGHTS.

We have opinions, we have voices and our generation is not scared to fight against our corrupt system. I am a gay woman and the right to exist wholeheartedly has been fought for by the strong men and women who came before me. Now it’s our turn to carry on their work.   Today, Manchester’s “Kill The Bill” protest took place, and at first, I thought nothing of it - when you live in the city, protests are an everyday occurrence. But as I continued to walk through it, I felt overwhelmed with the power and passion I was surrounded by. I began to question myself as to why I was walking past and not into it after all, if it wasn’t for the power of protest then I wouldn’t have the freedom that I seemingly take for granted.  Walking away left me with a sense of guilt and realisation that simply saying that I support equality and freedom of speech is not enough; so I turned around and put myself in unknown territory. Ego and fear of vulnerability removed, peace, love, and support from t...
